Internship opportunity - International Energy Agency – Latin America Programme
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Both the OECD and the IEA seek opportunities to work with an increasing number of non-members of growing importance to the world economy (countries beyond IEA). The Agency aims to foster the contribution of the energy sector to economic
development and environmental sustainability across the globe.
The IEA seeks to recruit an intern to work on Energy Transitions in Latin America, in particular sustainable / low-carbon gases (hydrogen, biogas). The intern will provide strong analytical, drafting and research support on these issues in the context of a larger project on expanding the IEA’s analysis on Latin America in a number of IEA publications. The selected candidate will work under the guidance by the IEA’s Latin America Desk and the IEA’s Energy Technology Division.

Drafting: Contributing to the drafting of internal documents and analytical outputs ;
Planning and organization: Support the organization of expert workshops and a series of videoconferences, including preparation of agendas, researching and outreach to suitable experts, etc.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Master student or above, in chemical or energy engineering, ideally with specialization or previous experience on hydrogen;
Languages: Excellent drafting skills in English and Spanish are a requirement; knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.
Computer skills: Advanced MS Excel skills and command of other MS Office (word, excel and power point);
Good organisational skills, ability to work effectively on the basis of general instructions with the capacity to prioritise tasks, often according to tight deadlines;
Ability to work in a multicultural and team oriented environment;
Experience of working with/on Latin America through studies, internships or professional activities would be an advantage.
Duration and work location
Minimum 6 months (starting in February 2021);
Work location: virtual internship (with possibility for presence at IEA HQ in Paris to be agreed once travel restrictions and IEA internal sanitary measures allow).
The selected candidate will be provided with a monthly indemnity.
